RECRUITMENT
Panhellenic Formal Recruitment is held each year at the beginning of the spring semester, usually in late January. Throughout the weekend, potential new members (or PNMs) visit each of the six Panhellenic sororities on campus.
The weekend is divided into three “days“ — philanthropy day, development day, and preference night. On philanthropy day, PNMs learn about Kappa Alpha Theta's national philanthropy, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), and what service means to members of Columbia Theta. On development day, PNMs experience the strength of our sisterhood and learn how Theta fosters personal growth. The final night, preference night, is where active members share more personal experiences as members of Theta at Columbia. At the end of recruitment, our chapter comes together on Bid Night to welcome our new member class!
Registration for Formal Recruitment is from October 1, 2024 to January 1, 2025.
Spring 2025 Formal Recruitment dates are from Thursday, January 23rd—Sunday, January 26th. For more information, please visit the Columbia Panhellenic Website.
“I joined Theta because I really felt the need to be a part of a strong and supportive community of women. College is so tough to navigate— especially as a freshman, so Theta helped me immensely with the college transition and meeting some of the girls who turned out to be my best friends. Theta feels like home; I can't count the amount of times l've received emotional, academic, and career support from other Thetas— just out of the kindness of their hearts. The girls in this sorority are intensely kind, giving, and incredibly intelligent and I feel so lucky to be a part of such a great community on campus. I'm so excited to be the new VP Membership this coming semester for the new PC and welcome them into such a loving and fun group! I felt so loved and supported during my recruitment process and I can't wait to give it back to the incoming class <3”
